The Battle of Craney Island was fought on June 22, 1813 in Portsmouth, Virginia. Join us as we reenact one of the greatest American victories of the War of 1812! Historic Fort Norfolk (ca. 1795) consists of 4 acres owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers and will be open to the public each day from 10 am to 4 pm. Reenactors portraying US Regulars, US Marines, Virginia Militia, civilians, and British Army, Royal Navy Sailors and Marines will be on site doing living history demonstrations, drills, and conducting a battle each day! Reproduction vessels are welcome to participate in amphibious operations! Reenactors may stay on site overnight in the temperature controlled barracks or in tents. There will also be sutlers available all weekend selling food, clothing, and reproductions from the time period. A victory dinner and celebration will be held for reenactors on Saturday evening.
